Deep Dive: The January 5th, 2000 Illinois UFO Incident

Illinois Unsolved: A Simple Case of Misidentification  
 
The “St. Clair Triangle”, “UFO Over Illinois”, “Southern Illinois UFO”, or “Highland, Illinois UFO” sighting occurred on January 5th,2000 over the towns of Highland, Dupo, Lebanon, Shiloh, Summerfield, Millstadt and O’Fallon, Illinois, beginning at just after 4:00 am.              This series of UFO incidents has since gone on to be featured in numerous television shows including Seeing is Believing, on the Discovery Channel special UFOs Over Illinois, and on an episode of the Syfy series Proof Positive. The object observed was incorrectly identified by the FAA as an advertising blimp operated by the American Blimp Company. But this is simply not the case. Even the National Institute for Discovery Science that was founded by Robert Bigalow (NIDS) completely got their conclusions wrong about what was seen over Illinois that morning. And world-famous UFO researcher Jaque Valley was on their books. At around 04.00am local time, the primary eyewitness, Melvern Noll, a truck driver, and local business owner observed a bright light hanging low in the sky as he paid a quick visit to his business to check his pipes had not burst. Upon exiting he noted that this bright light was now much larger and now noted that it was on approach toward him. As this craft passed, Melvern noted that it looked like a two-story house with a little penthouse on top. It had a row of windows and the craft moved in complete silence. Melvern made the instant decision to report this craft to the police as he felt that no-one would believe him unless he documented and reported the sighting. He dropped into Highland police department and immediately reported the matter in person. From there, Highland police dispatch then put out a call to officers out on patrol to see if further observations of the craft could be made. Officer Ed Barton was next to encounter a craft which he said was triangular.  
After getting to a good vantage point, he turned off the engine, radio and lights of the patrol car and watched as this craft approached him. Officer Barton described seeing two lights at the front of the craft which, ‘’were almost touching and they were so bright it at first looked like car headlights on brights but they were bigger and brighter than the street lights that farmers have around their houses and so-forth…When I next saw it, it had turned from two into one -again gigantic  bright light, during all this when it was the two there was white light radiating off of it like a Japanese Rising sun battle flag’’  Former Illinois Officer Ed Barton R.I.P. 
He stated that these two headlights then became the one big light and the craft performed a flat turn and began to head away from him. Officer Barton then pursued the craft in his patrol car and got to the bridge that led into town and when he next saw the craft it was changing colors and turned into an illuminated, white elongated cigar shape. The craft was also displaying green, red, and white lights. As Officer Barton reached in to grab his radio, he took his eye off the craft for only a second or two and upon looking back, noted that the craft had moved six to seven miles distance from his location in the moment it took for him to grab the radio.  

Officer Barton’s description of the shards of light he observed coming off this craft were a feature that I had also personally observed a month beforehand on December 4th 1999 during my second encounter at 05.00am. I had stood directly in front of one of these craft and had seen for myself these shards of light rotate briefly before the craft turned off its spotlight and began flashing multicolored lights before it reactivated its cloaking mode again, growing brighter until seeming to implode visually. This encounter was extremely profound for reasons I will come onto cover later. When I reviewed the Illinois 1case again in 2021, I now understood exactly what Melvern Noll and Officer Barton had witnessed that morning over Illinois.                                   The two headlights turning into one big light is now something that I could now explain, thanks to my own personal encounters and extensive research investigations into the STS103 mission image records. Documentary maker Daryll Barker noted that these encounters influenced everyone who witnessed this activity over Illinois. He stated,: ‘’I will say that the event created in all of them, varied degrees of anxiety.’’ I had no idea that these events caused such a heated and polarized debate. Explanations ranged from the FAA stating the UFO was an advertising blimp, to a military official citing it was a B-2 Stealth Bomber, to the absurdity of Philip Klass chirping in and stating that the planet Venus was the logical reasoning behind it all. I have heard of Venus in furs before but never Venus with windows. Daryll Barker states that most attempts at explanation have been insulting to the intelligence of the witnesses. And I completely agree. When I heard that Philip Klass was involved, I wished Stan Friedman were still with us today to see his old rival with cosmic egg on his face. Aside from Venus being rolled out again to explain these events, more serious and intelligent theories emerged from the leading investigators in this case, NIDS. Jacques Vallee was on the panel of NIDS and they concluded that the Illinois craft was a manufactured craft and not of alien origin. Disproving NASA was one thing but disproving a legendary figurehead of Ufology was never intentional. The FAA had not seen anything on radar. Scott Air Force Base officials said they did not know anything about the object and there were no stealth B-2s in the area at the time. NIDS even considered the possibility that the UFO might have been a secret blimp. NIDS’ eight eyewitness reports suggest that the object came down from Lake Michigan just north of Chicago at 10:00 p.m. on January 4th and headed southwest, then making an appearance six hours later in Highland, before finally disappearing outside Dupo just before 7 a.m. “That’s about nine hours in the air,” notes Kelleher.  ” That’s a long time.”  On the other hand, according to at least one police officer, the object would literally jump across the sky in a matter of seconds. The other weird thing is, if it is trying to be stealthy, what is it doing so low with these unbelievably bright, blinding lights?”  

Using the illustrations by Daryll Barker, and the New York footage confirmed the accuracy of the underside of these craft and I now had a better idea of how the plasma vectors around the craft and I then went on to gradually piece together the physical process that all the features on the crafts hull provide in transporting the photo packets from A to B. And that’s where the biggest national security blunder of all time really started to be fully realized. If I could reverse engineer the process these alien craft utilize, then so could anyone say, in China or even Russia and with unlimited people money and resources, these concepts could be technically developed, tested and manufactured and reproduced.  

So, if NASA and the pentagon were really that afraid of a ‘technological surprise’ from a hostile nation, then why exactly were NASA offering its enemy’s the opportunity to do just exactly that and have been doing so since 2010?   

A Quantum Leap Beyond the Edge of Reality 

How I Solved this landmark Illinois January 5th2000 UFO Case: 

 My multi-faceted approach to reviewing my own encounters involved taking all the available independent data and seeing how it applied to my own experiences. Gradually a much bigger picture emerged, and it became clear that the STS103 images held the key to understanding what exactly occurred here in Scotland and across the planet during that same time.                                        The testimonies of Illinois eyewitnesses, Melvern Noll and police officers, Ed Barton and Craig Stephens provided me with more than enough additional supporting evidence that showed very clearly, that the STS103 events also had a direct connection to the events that played out all over Illinois just eleven days later. The combined evidence gained from my UFO Investigation of the Millennium, STS103 and the Illinois events were the main ingredients that when examined in context became a highly volatile mix even more dangerous than NASA or the pentagon ever foreseen arriving on their doorstep. In June 2021, while examining the STS103 mission images, I went on to make an incredible series of discoveries that not only explained in full what I repeatedly observed in Glasgow Scotland during the buildup to the millennium but began to provide definitive answers to the answering to the UFO question. Proof of the existence of aliens was discovered on a public NASA server even before they had gotten around to publishing the farcical and now obsolete pentagon UAP report. It was while I was pre-engaged in determining the validity of the structured crafts presence beside Discovery on STS103-734-58 that eyewitness, Melvern Noll’s description entered my head in June 2021. It was when I concluded that the entities seen at the top of STS103-734-58 had to be standing in a higher up observation deck of the same craft as the crowd of silhouetted entities also seen standing at windows on a lower deck below at the bottom of the frame, that Melvern’s description of a craft with ‘’a little penthouse on top ‘’ provided me with the first piece of evidence linking these two cases together. Ed Barton’s descriptions provided the next missing pieces of the jigsaw that then slotted perfectly into place. Officer Ed Barton’s account of what happened to him personally while out on patrol that morning provided corroborating evidence of what I personally recounted, reported and documented as far back as December 15th, 1999. In 2021, I contacted the Edge of Reality documentary film maker, Daryll Barker to inform him that I had found a connection linking both these events together after working out that the spotlight on the Illinois craft was identified and connected to my own encounters on December 4th and 11th as well as on the STS103 Hubble redeployment sequence, hosted on a public NASA server.  The spotlight had already been identified on the craft in the STS103 images and the smaller lighting hubs around its circumference had additionally assisted in making a positive identification. Discovering that my own encounters were directly intertwined with events in orbit and Illinois was down to several factors. The headlights observed by Ed Barton had now also been formally identified on the craft which appears on the Hubble redeployment sequence and the one big light he spoke of, is the massive spotlight situated at the front of these craft as seen in frames 73 and 74.  

The formal identification of the headlights was made in 2021 thanks to research I had previously carried out for my first publication on these matters and again in 2018 when the right hand side headlight was also discovered on STS103-734-59.   

It was down to the combination of the multiple eyewitness statements from earlier in December from Guyra, Australia, Missouri and the UK and my research on the solid physical craft I first exposed in 2012 on STS103-734-69.  Within three days prior to discovering the Illinois case was directly connected to STS103, through the testimony of Melvern Noll. I went on to also make the discovery of the millennium by learning that we are not alone with the formal identification of the entity on STS103-734-58  After getting the result back from the first freelancer I hired to look at this image of the alien  I named ‘Adam.’ The Illinois case was completely solved in the process of conducting the STS103 research leading to the discovery of entities on the STS103 mission images prior to the Pentagon UAP preliminary assessment report even being published. It was quite the achievement, but it did not end there. Solving the Illinois encounters only came about because of my STS103 research. And my research only came about because of my encounters. The events in Illinois were also now conclusively connected, explained, and solved by my identification and discovery of the two alien entities on STS103-734-58 and 59 in June 2021. Illinois police Officer, Craig Stephens description of the craft he observed provided further insight into the technical application of the crafts design which later helped validate my working theory on how they operate and played a huge part in my understanding of the craft’s technical abilities. He stated that he observed lights that moved -back and forth across the back of the craft, supporting the evidence I had independently discovered about these craft.  

This was the plasma field being blended around the craft. As it turns out, the bluish white oval craft and the triangular craft are the same thing. The bluish white oval was just the visual effect created by the crafts toroid electromagnetic field. Not only that, but Officer Stephens descriptions also assisted in solving another world-famous series of UFO events.  

The identification of the alien entities on a NASA server on multiple images now provided a face to present in support of explaining the events of that extremely cold January morning in Illinois. By being an eyewitness to repeat events here in Glasgow and then going on to conduct the extensive STS103 research , this had now morphed into a study of  the Illinois events and the evidence in each case complimented, matched, and supported each other. On top of this, was all the other eyewitness statements I took specific interest in and documented in my publication of Corroborating Evidence in 2014. By now establishing that the craft from the STS103 mission was also observed in Illinois and beyond, I had additionally provided a definitive answer to the mystery of the black flying triangles. I now began to realize that these triangular craft with the white lights on each corner are not super-secret black budget aircraft. I figured that much out when I found the 55-minute gap between the Missouri and UK events with the matching descriptions of headlights on triangular craft. So, forget all that propaganda about the alleged TR-3B. These triangular craft belong to the aliens. By identifying the headlight and spotlight features on the STS103 craft in 2021, I had not only discovered evidence of aliens in orbit but also solved a landmark UFO case by cross referencing and presenting evidence from NASA’s own public records. And this in turn had now led to answering exactly what these UAP’s are and exactly who they belong to. If you think that is interesting, just wait and see what else I must disclose within my own private UAP study looking at non classified easily locatable hard chewy watertight data. After learning that my experiences were interlinked with the STS103 events, this additional evidence from the Illinois case then went on to provide even further proof that all these events were connected and had a common source behind all of them.  

Learning that the Illinois UFO events of January 5th, 2000, were directly connected to STS103 as well as my own encounters was incredible, but it was only my initiation into going on to discover so much more.  

Ed Bartons reconstructed description of the craft he encountered in Illinois on January 5th, 2000, provided the corroborating evidence that the features that I had identified in 2012 and 2018 were the headlights located at the front of these craft. These headlights were also observed by numerous eyewitnesses throughout December,1999. It was now noticeably clear that both sets of events were directly connected. The evidence from the Illinois case had now provided corroboration of eyewitness descriptions that completely match what is on these NASA images. Eyewitness Melvern Nolls descriptions match the craft seen in frames 57,58 and 59 while eyewitness Ed Bartons descriptions matched the headlights and spotlight that I had identified on the craft from frames 59, 69  and 73. The positive identification of these features then led to making further identifications of these exact same features on craft at numerous other landmark UFO events.  As my investigations continued, over the following time that has elapsed since first solving the Illinois UFO events, the testimony of all the eyewitnesses to the Illinois encounters would all assist in learning more about these craft and these events. Subsequently, in the time that then followed, the more information that was added to the dataset I was building, the more that the Illinois evidence assisted in understanding the overall picture. Further information on this case and its relation to STS103 is available on my WordPress account with lots more image comparisons. 

This spotlight has led to making multiple positive identifications of the same craft in orbit throughout the Orbiter program and ISS mission records. The features around the circumference of these spotlights led to fully identifying the source of the yellow lights on the STS103 mission records.
